NPQ SENCO

Programme overview

This new course designed for SENCOs replaces the NASENCO qualification. Participants will become expert leaders of special educational needs and will learn how to build an inclusive culture in their school where all pupils can succeed. Eligibility

This is a mandatory qualification for SENCOs. You will need to complete this qualification within the first three years in the role. You must be a current or aspiring SENCO, or a school leader such as a senior leader or headteacher. This NPQ is open to leaders in specialist or alternative provision.

If you have already obtained the NASENCO, you do not need to complete the NPQ SENCO.

We expect there to be a limited number of funded places for eligible schools/settings, so we advise you to submit your application as early as possible when the application window opens.
To check if you qualify for funding, please use Ambition Institute’s online eligibility checker tool.
If you do not work in a school/setting that is eligible for funding, or our funded places are full, then you/your school/setting will be required to pay the course fee £1,332 + VAT.

The next cohort will commence Autumn 2026.
There will only be one intake in the 2026/27 academic year.
