We are pleased to announce that applications are being taken from today 6 July for the Department for Education's new Excellence in Reception Teaching programme. 

Commencing Autumn 2026, this is a funded professional development opportunity for reception teachers in eligible state-funded schools in England.  The programme is part of the DfE's wider commitment to give every child the best possible start in life.

Designed for both experienced teachers and those moving into a reception role in a mainstream school, this two-school term (minimum 20hours) programme will help deepen reception-specific pedagogical knowledge and practice through practical, evidence-based approaches, supporting more children to achieve a good level of development.
