Information for Schools

From September 2024, following the DfE's review, initial teacher training (ITT) will change.

The DfE are introducing new quality requirements to ensure trainee teachers receive high-quality training and the ITT system can maintain the capacity to deliver trainees to the profession, therefore remaining beneficial to schools.

What is changing?

  • Mentors will be required to have completed 20 hours of mentor training and to provide a minimum of 1.5 hours mentoring support per trainee per week.
  • Introduction of Intensive Training and Practice (ITaP).

For a summary of the changes and how this will impact your school, download our ITT Reforms 2024 flyer here.
