NPQLL

National Professional Qualification in Leading Literacy (NPQLL)

We are pleased to announce that we are partnering with Ambition Institute to deliver the new NPQ in Leading Literacy (NPQLL).  This 12 month NPQ will help you learn the essential knowledge and skills to successfully lead high quality, literacy development and teaching in your school.

Those doing the training will learn:

  • How to support staff, of all subject specialisms, to develop pupils’ language and literacy skills.
  • How to support, develop and teach pupils literacy using evidence-informed approaches.
  • How effective literacy education can support your school.
  • Contribute to effective professional development for literacy, linking it to teaching, the curriculum and assessment across the school.

Benefits to your school:

  • Champion literacy leadership in your school to make sure that every young person has the literacy skills to succeed across all curriculum areas.
  • Contribute to effective professional development for literacy, linking it to teaching, the curriculum and assessment across the school.

How you will learn:

  • The content is delivered through blended learning over a period of 12 months. This includes a mix of real-time interactive sessions, face-to-face training, peer-led sessions and self-guided modules you complete in your own time.
    • 1 x full day conference (facilitated, in-person)
    • 6 x courses (each course lasts six weeks and loosely aligned to a school half term).  Each course includes six modules which you complete on Steplab, your online learning platform.
    • 5 x two-hour clinics (facilitated, online 4-6pm)
    • 1 x two-hour assessment clinic (facilitated, in-person)
    • 3 x communities (1hr 15mins group sessions)

NPQ suitability:

  • You will be a teacher who has, or is aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading literacy across a school, year group, key stage or phase.

Cost:

  • New for Autumn 2024!  DfE-funded scholarships for this NPQ will target those teachers and leaders who work in the most challenging schools or educational settings, serving more disadvantaged communities.

For the NPQLL, funded scholarships will be available for those who meet the following criteria:

    • Work in the 50% of schools with the highest proportion of students who attract pupil premium funding and 16 to 19 educational settings identified as having high disadvantage in England.
  • If you do not work in an eligible school, the NPQ in Leading Literacy costs £899 plus VAT.
  • We expect more eligibility information including which schools and settings will be able to access this funding, to be provided by the DfE in the summer term.
