Train to Teach
Throughout Calderdale and Kirklees you’ll be able to find courses for Initial Teacher Training (ITT) that combine professional learning, academic study and hands-on experience in the classroom. We offer a school direct route that puts school experience at the heart of the course so you are in school settings learning from our experts from day one.
For the new 2023 cohort, we are really excited to announce that we will be working in partnership with trinity Institute of Education to offer Initial Teacher Training through the National Institute of Teaching.
Train to Teach with the Hub
Applications for September 2023 - 2024 opened Tuesday 11th October. The Hub will continue to offer teacher training working with existing partners and widening our network to bring high quality teacher training to you. We will be working in partnership with Trinity Institute of Education, an associate college of The National Institute of Teaching. For more information please click on the provider.
All placements and training will continue to take place locally across the Calderdale & Kirklees area.
We work alongside the The National Institute of Teaching, over 57 partner schools, our MAT schools and MAT external initiatives to help you become the best teacher you can be. Calderdale and Kirklees Teaching School Hub based at the Ofsted rated Outstanding Shelley College are lead partner to Trinity Institute of Education an Associate College of the National Institute of Teaching alongside . Together we are able to offer expertise and experience from colleagues and schools across the full age spectrum from outstanding settings.
Our programme takes one year to complete and on average we have a 98% employment rate. You will be in school, teaching from the start, giving you the practical experience to feel confident in a classroom from the day you graduate as an ECT (Early Career Teacher.)
