ITT

ITT recruitment for Sept 2024 is going very well. We are still open for applications for places to train for Primary and Secondary teaching. For more information please see here Calderdale and Kirklees Teaching School Hub - Train to Teach (ckteachingschoolhub.org).

Please look out for an email from the Hub and your local ITT provider regarding changes to ITT from September 2024. The email will be sent to head teachers and leaders of ITT w/c 11th December and includes a link which will require a response. Thanks in advance for your support.

ECF

The term got off to a flying start with 31 face-to-face conferences taking place across the region. Attendance from ECTs was over 90%, so many thanks to everyone who made this possible.

This half-term, the focus has been on clinics. Engagement has been fantastic, with lots of high-quality learning and sharing taking place. Thank you to our facilitators for bringing Ambition’s materials to life!

Self-study modules continue to be completed weekly by around half of Year 1 ECTs, but this is an area we need to improve upon so that ECTs don’t have lots to catch up on in Year 2.

The next Induction Coordinator’s Breakfast Briefing will be held on Thursday 11th January 2024 - 7.45am - The link to join the briefing can be found here - no booking required.

Appropriate Body

It’s been a busy term for our Appropriate Body service, with visits to 20% of schools with ECTs. Seeing how well our ECTS are being supported and inducted is always a pleasure.

As we look towards the end of term, a reminder that assessments (end of year 1, final and interim for ECTs leaving your school) are due for submission by Friday 8th December. Progress reviews should be submitted by Friday 15th December.

There are anonymised examples of the kinds of comments you might write in the Resources section of ECT Manager. Please remind your ECT to add their comments and reflections on the term - this is a key part of the induction process and contributes to their evidence of meeting the Teachers’ Standards.

NPQS

Our next cohort of NPQs start in January 2024.  If you would like more information about our NPQ offer or if you would like to express interest in one of our NPQ programmes, please refer to our website. The deadline for applications is Monday 15th January 2024.
