Initial Teacher Training

ITT recruitment for 2026-27 is now closed. In August, around 90 trainees across a wide range of secondary subjects and primary phases will join us to start their teacher training journey.

Our current cohort of trainees had an amazing day for their graduation ceremony on the 9th July, and we now wish them the very best of luck as they embark on Early Career Teaching. We are immensely proud of everything they have achieved this year.

Can we take this opportunity to thank all our amazing and dedicated mentors, managing mentors and subject specialists that have supported trainees this year. We are very grateful for your hard work – the trainees really do flourish under your guidance, helping them to grow in confidence and character. Trainees have taken placements across almost 50 Share MAT and partner schools this academic year, but we are always keen to offer a greater variety of placement. If you are a school that does not currently work with us for ITT, please get in touch – we are currently looking to secure contrasting school placements for January 2027.

Early Career Teacher Programme

We have had another busy year supporting ECTs and mentors with the ECF and ECTP programmes. The changes from 2025 have been well received and we look forward to seeing what Year 2 of the ECTP brings.

Attendance at events has again been very high – over 95% for ECTs! We hope they have got a lot from the programme and enjoyed it along the way. Feedback from participants tells us that they find the sessions “professional and informative”, “really well designed”, and “lovely and inspiring”.

We will continue to run our half-termly Breakfast Briefings for induction tutors, Acting upon feedback, we may share more communications with induction tutors this year for information purposes only. Please let us know at the hub if this is supportive of your role.

The next Induction Tutor breakfast briefing will be held on Thursday 3rd September at 7.45 a.m. The Zoom link can be found on our website.

National Professional Qualifications

Our next round of NPQ cohorts will commence November 2026.  We will be delivering 6 NPQ programmes with our lead provider, Ambition Institute:

Leadership NPQs (Headship, SENCO, Senior Leadership & Early Years Leadership) are fully funded for all state schools.

Specialist NPQs (Leading Behaviour & Development & Leading Teacher Development) are fully funded for PP50 schools.

Funded places are limited and as we have already received a large number of applications, interested parties are encouraged to apply as early as possible.  Please refer to our website for details on each programme and how to apply Calderdale and Kirklees Teaching School Hub - National Professional Qualifications.

Self-funded places are also available.

Appropriate Body

As another busy academic year comes to an end, we undertake the mammoth task of reading every formal assessment report for our ECTs. We absolutely love doing this and hearing about the tremendous progress and phenomenal impact so many Early Career Teachers are having in classrooms right across our region.
